Raumstücke (2018–20) is nourished by my fascination for man-made sites and their spatial structure, the peculiarity of how space extends into the depths, how it lies flat but still seems to hint at almost endless expanses, its spaciousness and its narrowness, its wafer-thin appearance, and how it abruptly cuts into the planar surface.
Built surroundings have the potential to inform and mirror our realities. Raumstücke are transformed observations of and emotional respondances to man-made sites. They embody sensations of exposedness and protectedness, openness and seclusion by levering out perspectival construction and reducing the observed to newly imagined inventions.
